The Stem Cell Procedure
Involves non-surgical administer of healthy baby born umbilical cord blood live stem cells with or without additional injection into the injured area/joint.
This simple procedure avoids the complicated and potentially dangerous nature of surgical procedures, but can also be used in conjunction with surgery to significantly reduce inflammation and speed the healing process.
The therapy has NO KNOWN SIDE EFFECTS, NO ALLERGIC REACTION AND NO BODY REJECTION. The worst symptom experienced by 20% of patients is a flu-like effect for a few hours or up to 2 days, " it's like getting a flu shot."
Live Cells Concentration
Cells are stored at a temperature of -192 C. At that temperature they are completely dormant and remain in their natural state with their natural properties. Administered by IV infusion or injection, a 20 minute process.
Cells has no known side effects, body rejection or allergic reaction. The worst symptoms in 20% of the patients is a flu like symptoms for a few hours or up to 2 days, it's like getting a flu shot.
Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC’s): Environmentally responsive therapeutics for regenerative medicine.
MSC’s are partially defined by their ability to differentiate into various tissues but it is their trophic, paracrine, and immunomodulatory functions that may have the greatest therapeutic impact. Unlike pharmaceutical treatments that deliver a single agent at a specific dose, MSC’s are site regulated and secrete bioactive factors and signals at variable concentrations in response to local micro environmental cues.
MSC’s function as surveyors of their kingdom, capable of responding to local stimuli with a myriad of beneficial interventions. The availability and versatility of these remarkable cells make them an excellent treatment option for a wide variety of clinical pathologies, and it falls to the scientific community to establish clear guidelines for the optimal administration of MSC-based therapies.
Definitions:
Trophic: Relating to feeding and nutrition.
Paracrine: Denoting a hormone that has effect only in the vicinity of the gland secreting it.
Immunomodulatory: Capable of modifying or regulating one or more immune functions.
CFU-F: Colony Forming Unit-Fibroblast.

Tissue Sources of MSC’s
The stem cells reside within the cells of these tissues and require a special enzymatic procedure to release them from within the cells.
Bone marrow, adipose (fat), dermis (skin), synovial fluid (joint fluid), periosteum (covering around the bone that houses the nerves and blood vessels for the bone), umbilical cord blood, placenta, and amniotic fluid.
Misconceptions
Aborted fetus, planned parenthood fiasco, embryonic (Slide of sperm, oocyte, embryo)
Stem cells are harvested from the umbilical cord of a live birth healthy baby!!!
Capacity of MSC’s
The primary trophic property of MSC’s is the secretion of growth factors and other cytokines to induce cell proliferation and angiogenesis. The trophic effects extend beyond cell proliferation to the reduction of scar tissue formation.
Anti-Inflammatory and Immunomodulatory Properties of MSC’s:
In musculatory trauma, inflammatory conditions at the site of injury impede the natural repair processes from taking place. MSC’s assist via paracrine mechanisms and modulate the regenerative environment via anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms.
In response to inflammatory molecules such as IL-1, 2, and 12, TNF-alpha and interferon gamma (that is initiated by T-1 helper cells).
MSC’s secrete an array of growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins with complex feedback mechanisms. The key immunomodulatory cytokines include PGE-2, tissue growth factor-beta 1, hepatocyte growth factor, nitrous oxide, IL-4, 6, 10 and many more (secreted by T-2 helper cells).
MSC’s prevent proliferation and function of many inflammatory immune cells, including T cells, and NK cells.
A characteristic of chronically inflamed environments is a persistent imbalance in the types of T cells.
MSC’s indirectly promote the transition of T-1 helper cells (the pro-inflammatory cells) to T-2 helper cells (anti-inflammatory cells) by reducing interferon gamma and increasing IL-4, and 10.
The restored T-1/T-2 balance (immunomodulation) has been shown to improve tissue regeneration, alleviate symptoms of autoimmune diseases and have an anti-diabetic effect.
To make it simple. An MSC induced reduction in interferon gamma and IL-4 (the pro-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, and tissue growth inhibition factors), promotes a shift to the anti-inflammatory, pro-remodeling, and tissue healing type, an effect that is required for skeletal, muscular and neural healing and regeneration.
Anti-Apoptotic Properties:
Apoptosis: Literally means cellular suicide. Due to environmental conditions.
An important property of MSC’s is the ability to rescue apoptotic cells induced by traumatic exposures to hypoxia, chemicals/acidity, mechanical damage, or radiation. MSC’s have proved to reverse apoptosis in cells. The mechanism is not fully understood.
Antimicrobial Properties:
The native immune defense against microbial infections is caused by multiple polypeptides. LL37 is the most commonly secreted polypeptide and has been shown to be a potential effective therapeutic agent against acute and systemic infections. It has also been shown to be effective against protazoal parasites.
Simple Explanation
Autograft is a cell taken from your body and put back into your body.
Allograft is a cell taken from another human and put into your body, (species to species).
Xenograft is a cell taken from a different species and placed into your body, (valve from a pig heart implanted into your heart).
Abbreviations like: TNF (tissue necrosis factor), IL-10 (interleukin 10), IFN-γ (Interferon gamma), IL-4 (interleukin 4), IL-12 (interleukin 12), Th1 Th (T-cell helper cells), Treg (T-cell regulator).
Bad Guys: TNF, IFN-γ, IL-12, T1 helpers cells and regulators are the mechanisms that set a person up for an allergic reaction, or GVHD (graft versus host disease).
Good Guys: IL-4 and IL-10, and T2 helper cells are the cells that effectively regulate the expression of the Bad Guys.
Mesenchymal stem cells produce huge quantities of bio-molecules, some of which are immunosuppressive; MSCs put up a curtain of molecules around themselves that allows donor (allogeneic) MSCs to be transplanted into a recipient free from immune response;” I think that is a very eloquent statement but may not be clear to everyone. Basically it is saying this; Once the MSC’s are infused into the body, they produce a huge quantity of bio-molecules, some of which help to suppress our immune system against having an allergic reaction to the MSC infusion. Basically, the Good Guys IL-4 and IL-10 act to set up a shield whereby the Bad Guys TNF, IFN-γ, IL-12, and T-cell regulators and helpers are unable to cause the allergic reaction to take place.
Definitions:
T-regulator cells: Cause the up regulation of all T-helper cells. T-1 bad, T-2 good.
T-1 helper cells: Activate macrophages and are responsible for cell mediated immunity.
T-2 helper cells: Expresses IL-4 & IL-10 which puts up the shield of protection.
Type of Tissue Transplants
Autograft: (Autologous) Self to self. Remove bone marrow from your body, concentrate the cells and place back into your body.
Allograft: (allogenic) Species to species. Remove bone from one person, process, them put into another person.
Xenograft: (Xenogenic) One species to another. Take a heart valve from a pig and put into a human.
Type of Tissue Transplants
Most of the disease processes we are dealing with are systemic in nature and not localized to a specific joint or site. Take rheumatoid arthritis for example. We tend to think of an older person with swollen joints that have a hard time walking but in reality, the inflammation is all throughout the body and most everything is affected. If you were to only put stem cells in the painful joints, the patients would only have a certain amount of relief. Since this is a systemic condition we would use 4cc’s of MSC’s, giving 90% intravenously to treat the systemic condition and only about 10% in specific joints that are specifically painful. More researches and studies are available online.

Green tea is mostly safe for adults when consumed in moderation. But people with stomach problems, iron deficiency, people with low tolerance to caffeine, pregnant or nursing women, people with anemia, anxiety disorders, bleeding disorders, heart conditions, diabetic, liver disease and osteoporosis should not consume green tea as it may have side-effects.
Green tea is one of the oldest herbal teas known to man. It gained quick prominence in the West because of its purported health benefits, weight loss being one of the popular ones. Some of these health benefits are backed by studies while some are not.

Green tea is mostly safe for adults when consumed in moderation. Green tea extract is also considered to be generally safe for most people when taken orally or applied topically on the skin for a short period of time. However, drinking too much green tea (more than 5 cups a day) is considered to be unsafe.
Some people have a natural low tolerance for caffeine, and they will suffer these symptoms even when ingesting small amounts. Some may already be suffering from problems that could be further aggravated by green tea intake. Such people should limit green tea consumption to at most 2 cups per day.
Side Effects of Green Tea
Like all teas, green tea contains caffeine; excessive caffeine intake can lead to or aggravate a variety of problems, including the following:
01:13
01:13
Stomach Problems
The tannins present in green tea increase stomach acidity that may cause stomach ache, nausea, or constipation. For this reason, green tea is not consumed on an empty stomach in Japan and China.
It is best to drink green tea after a meal or in-between meals. People with peptic ulcers or acid reflux should not consume green tea excessively. A 1984 study concluded that tea is a potent stimulant of gastric acid, which can be reduced by adding milk and sugar.
Sometimes, improper brewing of green tea may also have adverse effects. Green tea is best brewed with water between 160 and 280°F. Excessively hot water may cause heartburn or an upset stomach.
Iron Deficiency and Anemia
Green tea seems to reduce the absorption of iron from food. Drinking very high doses can actually be fatal. The fatal dose of caffeine in green tea is estimated to be 10-14 grams (150-200 mg per kilogram).
Green tea can also reduce the bioavailability of non-heme iron. Non-heme iron is the primary type of iron in eggs, dairy and plant foods such as beans. A 2001 study reports that green tea extract reduces the absorption of non-heme iron by 25%. However, vitamin C increases non-heme iron absorption, so you can squeeze lemon into your tea or consume other vitamin-C rich foods such as broccoli, with your meal.

If you have an iron-deficiency like anemia, the National Cancer Institute recommends consuming tea between meals.
Mild to Serious Headaches
Population-based research studies have shown that caffeine is a risk factor for chronic daily headache onset.1
Sleep Problems, Nervousness and Anxiety
Caffeine exerts obvious effects on anxiety and sleep which vary according to individual sensitivity to methylxanthine.2 It blocks sleep-inducing chemicals in the brain and increases adrenaline production.
Irregular or Accelerated Heartbeat
Caffeine in green tea might cause an irregular heartbeat. It also stimulates the heart muscles to contract when at rest.
Vomiting
Because caffeine affects the movement of food through the food pipe, alternating contraction and relaxation of the food pipe muscles can cause nausea.
Diarrhoea
Caffeine has a laxative effect. It contributes to peristalsis (the movement of food through the digestive system). It stimulates the colon muscles to contract and then relax, which results in an increased need to move your bowels.
Muscle Tremors and Contractions
By regulating calcium ion channels within cells, caffeine forces skeletal muscle contractions.3
Heartburn
Caffeine increases the release of acid in your stomach. 4 This causes discomfort similar to heartburn.
Dizziness
Caffeine can decrease the flow of blood to the brain, leading to dizziness and motion sickness.5
Ringing in the Ears
Caffeine can aggravate tinnitus or ringing in the ears.6
Convulsions
Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system. It activates neurons when consumed in excess, thus, causing convulsions.7
Bleeding Disorders
Caffeine in green tea might increase the risk of bleeding.
Diabetes
Caffeine in green tea might interfere with blood sugar control. If you drink green tea and have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar carefully.
Glaucoma
Drinking green tea increases pressure inside the eye. The increase occurs within 30 minutes and lasts for at least 90 minutes.
High Blood Pressure
The caffeine in green tea might increase blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. However, this does not seem to occur in people who regularly drink green tea or other products that contain caffeine.
[Read: Does Green Tea Help Lower Blood Pressure Naturally?]
Liver Disease
Green tea extract supplements have been linked to several cases of liver damage. Green tea extracts might worsen liver disease as the caffeine in the blood may build up and last longer.
Osteoporosis
Drinking green tea can increase the amount of calcium that is flushed out in urine, which can lead to deterioration of bone health and osteoporosis, especially in those who might be predisposed to the same due to other factors. Caffeine should be limited to less than 300 mg per day (approximately 2-3 cups of green tea). It is possible to make up for some calcium loss caused by caffeine by ingesting calcium supplements.
Pregnancy and Infant Health Risks
Green tea contains caffeine, catechins, and tannic acids. All three substances have been linked to pregnancy risks. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, green tea in small amounts – about 2 cups per day – is safe. This amount of green tea provides about 200 mg of caffeine. However, drinking more than 2 cups of green tea per day has been linked to an increased risk of miscarriage and other negative effects.
Caffeine passes into breast milk and can affect a nursing infant. In addition, drinking a large amount may cause neural tube birth defect in babies.
Nutrient Absorption Problems in Children
The tannins in green tea may block nutrients absorption such as protein and fats in children. It may also lead to overstimulation because of the caffeine present in green tea.
Can People On Medication Drink Green Tea?
Green tea must not be taken along with these medications as it is known to cause negative reactions:
Highly Interactive
Stimulant drugs like Amphetamines, Nicotine, Cocaine and Ephedrine.
Moderately Interactive
Adenosine, Quinolone antibiotics, Birth control pills, Cimetidine (Tagamet), Clozapine (Clozaril), Dipyridamole (Persantine), Disulfiram (Antabuse), Estrogens pills, Fluvoxamine (Luvox), Lithium, Medications for depression (MAOIs), Hepatotoxic drugs, Medications that slow blood clotting (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs), Pentobarbital (Nembutal), Phenylpropanolamin, Riluzole (Rilutek),Theophylline, Verapamil and Warfarin.
Slightly Interactive
Alcohol, Fluconazole, Anti-diabetes drugs, Mexiletine (Mexitil) and Terbinafine.
How to Consume Green Tea?
The United Kingdom Tea Council recommends drinking not more than 6 cups of tea a day. For the best health benefits, 3 to 4 cups is recommended. However, doses of green tea vary significantly, but usually range between 1-5 cups daily is considered safe. The commonly used dose of green tea is based on the amount typically consumed in Asian countries, which is about 3 cups per day, providing 240-320 mg of the active ingredients, polyphenols. To make tea, people typically use 1 tsp of tea leaves in 8 ounces of boiling water.
Drink green tea when it’s freshly made but slightly cooled. Scalding tea can damage your digestive system. Moreover, recent studies suggest that too much hot tea can promote throat cancer. Compounds in tea like catechins, theanine, and vitamins C and B diminish over time through oxidation, so the health benefits are strongest with fresh tea. If you’re brewing the same tea leaves, brew them in moderation. With each successive infusion, cancerous substances in the leaves themselves (often pesticides) are drawn out and can even be toxic. Old tea can also harbour bacteria, especially since its antibacterial properties diminish with time.
Conclusion
You don’t have to quit drinking your favourite cup of green tea, but if you have any of the above mentioned medical conditions or taking prescription drugs, exercise caution and consult your doctor about how many cups you can have per day. Moderation is the key to enjoying the full benefits of green tea.

5 Diseases You Never Knew Marijuana Could Fight Or Potentially Cure
To say there's been a dramatic shift in sentiment toward marijuana over the past decade is an understatement.
In just one decade, the American public went from opposing the legalization of marijuana by a margin of three to one to favoring its legalization by nearly a three-to-two margin, according to statistics from research firm Gallup.
What's fueled this sudden surge in marijuana interest among the public? I'd opine it's been a mixture of the need for states to collect tax revenue to narrow budget deficits and the visibility of the positive effects of medical marijuana coming to light. Medical marijuana is most often prescribed by physicians as a treatment for cancer pain and as an appetite stimulant. There are currently 23 states that have legalized medical marijuana, and four (Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and Alaska) that have legalized the drug for recreational adult use.
You Never Knew This About Marijuana
There's much more to the marijuana debate than whether or not it should be legalized for recreational use. Select drug developers around the world are examining the properties of cannabinoids from the cannabis plant, as well as marijuana itself, to determine whether or not they could have a medically beneficial effect against certain diseases.
Whether you realize it or not, these five diseases may be successfully fought with or cured by marijuana.
1. Brain Cancer
Brain cancer is a scary diagnosis because surgery is often difficult, and the blood-brain barrier makes most standard chemotherapy options ineffective.
However, in May, London researchers released a report in Molecular Cancer Therapeutics that showed pretreating brain tumors with the cannabinoids THC and CBD prior to radiation therapy led to a dose-dependent increase in tumor cell death due to heightened radio-sensitivity. During the trial, researchers concluded that tumors that were pretreated wound up being just one-tenth the size of tumors in the control group.
Cannabinoid-based drug developer GW Pharmaceuticals currently has two compounds in clinical development for glioma and is the company to watch in this space.
2. Alzheimer's Disease
Another serious brain disease is dementia, of which a majority of cases wind up being Alzheimer's disease. According to the Alzheimer's Association, the number of Alzheimer's cases is expected to rise by 176% to 13.8 million by 2050, and this follows a 68% increase between 2000 and 2010.
The good news is, based on a multi-author abstract published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease last year, cannabinoid THC may be useful in slowing the formation of beta amyloid, the plaque that floats around in Alzheimer's disease patients' brains that reduces their cognitive function. After examining the effect of THC on beta amyloid protein precursor cells, researchers noted at the six-hour, 24-hour, and 48-hour marks that THC lowered beta amyloid levels.
Although a handful of small studies have been undertaken concerning marijuana's effect on Alzheimer's, no larger drug developers currently have any clinical trials under way in this indication. But, I'd suggest it's certainly one worth closely monitoring considering the limited success of traditional pharmaceuticals in treating Alzheimer's.
3. Epilepsy
Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological problem, trailing only Alzheimer's, stroke, and migraine. Epilepsy affects about 150,000 people in the U.S. annually, and over their lifetime, people have about a 1-in-26 chance of developing epilepsy.
We don't need to reference abstracts here, though, as GW Pharmaceuticals has produced scintillating early-stage results for Epidiolex in two rare types of childhood epilepsy, Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. As my colleague and biotech guru Brian Orelli recently reported, 56% of Dravet syndrome patients observed their seizure frequency drop in clinical studies, while 52% of patients with drop seizures, often associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, had their seizure frequency reduced.
4. Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes is what you might refer to as a silent killer. Even though it doesn't swiftly kill patients, it is a chronic, lifelong condition that can lead to a number of co-morbidities that can eventually lead to death. Within the U.S., per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 29.1 million people with diabetes -- 90% to 95% of which are type 2 diabetics.
Yet, in May 2013 a three-authored study published in The American Journal of Medicine observed that marijuana could play a key role in controlling people's blood sugar levels. The study, which looked at 4,657 people, including both active and former marijuana users, showed that current marijuana users had a 16% reduction in fasting insulin levels and an accompanying 17% drop in HOMA-IR, which measures insulin resistance and beta-cell function. Surprisingly, marijuana users also had slimmer waistlines!
Not to sound like a broken record, but GW Pharmaceuticals is also developing a drug known as GW42004 for type 2 diabetes. In a phase 2a study, it led to a statistically significant reduction in fasting plasma glucose levels with a positive trend of increased insulin sensitivity. Obviously, a drug approval here could have broad treatment implications. GWP42004 is currently in phase 2b trials.
5. Schizophrenia
Lastly, schizophrenia has been diagnosed in about 3.5 million people in the United States, or slightly more than 1% of the population, according to the Schizophrenia and Related Disorders Alliance of America. The costs to treat schizophrenia range from $32.5 billion to $65 billion annually.
In 2012, a study published in Translational Psychiatry hinted that cannabinoid CBD may prove to be an attractive substitute for current antipsychotic treatments. In total, the study examined 39 patients, dosing 20 with CBD and 19 with amisulpride. While both led to similar Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale scores upon study completion, it was noted that the CBD group had fewer side effects than the amisulpride group. Keep in mind that THC, not CBD, is the hallucinogenic component of marijuana.
As should be no surprise by now, GW Pharma is also developing GWP42003 as a potential treatment for schizophrenia. Following positive early-stage results, the drug has moved into phase 2a with a results readout expected in the second half of this year.
One Thing To Remember
While marijuana has shown very promising benefits in research-driven and clinical studies, we have to keep one thing in mind as investors: Marijuana is still a schedule 1 drug according to the federal government.
Being classified as a schedule 1, or illicit, drug denotes that marijuana has no medical benefits in the view of the government, which could make it extremely difficult for drug developers to advance new studies. The Food and Drug Administration hasn't exactly taken a negative stance on cannabinoid-based medications, but my personal opinion is that it'll be extra critical of approving studies considering the wide scope of conflicting safety data we've witnessed in studies over the past decade. For a company such as GW Pharmaceuticals, it means the possibility of having to jump through more safety hurdles, or maybe even having its drug restricted to a certain subset of patients.
As a consumer, I'm excited about the potential benefits marijuana can offer sufferers of these diseases. But as an investor, I'm still keeping a substantial distance between myself and a still immature and undefined marijuana industry.

Waking Times
Politics in America has devolved into a contest of personalities, where policy, history, and reality are rejected in favor of style, skin color, gender and celebrity factor. This is unsurprising, though, in a nation that has for generations been weened on television and state indoctrination. We’ve been trained to look to politicians for leadership, but the real heroes and change makers in our world are the fearless truth-tellers who work to free our minds and inspire us to greatness by setting an example with their words and deeds.
As we stare down the barrel of a critically divided society under the thumb of an all-powerful government and police state, righteous voices of non-partisan, no-bullshit truth who apply logic, common sense, and critical-thinking in defense of community and humanity are needed now more than ever. One such example is hip-hop artist, civic leader, social activist, and entrepreneur Michael Render, aka Killer Mike. His articulation of the problems we all face, accompanied with real ideas for meaningful action, make for an excellent reminder of what true leadership can look like.
He’s done a ton of interviews in recent years, and although he mentions being a conservative, even advocating for the 2nd Amendment in response to public shootings, he played a big role in Bernie Sanders’ campaign for the Democratic nomination in an effort to help educate and awaken black voters. Consider the following clips of Killer Mike speaking on a number of today’s critical issues.
Firstly, he talks to TMZ about the importance of participating in local elections and in using your vote to hold political parties accountable, while helping to see through the phony logic of voting for the lesser of two evils.
“Scaring me with the boogie man is not going to work as effectively as giving my community something that helps.” ~Killer Mike
In his song, ‘Reagan,‘ he rails against Obama, along with all the other authoritarian presidents we’ve had, as a member of an organization of war and profit, saying what so many Obama supporters are afraid to acknowledge.
“Ronald Reagan was an actor, not at all a factor
Just an employee of the country’s real masters
Just like the Bushes, Clinton and Obama
Just another talking head telling lies on teleprompters
If you don’t believe the theory, then argue with this logic
Why did Reagan and Obama both go after Qaddafi
We invaded sovereign soil, going after oil
Taking countries is a hobby paid for by the oil lobby
Same as in Iraq, and Afghanistan
And Ahmadinejad say they coming for Iran
They only love the rich, and how they loathe the poor
If I say any more they might be at my door”
~Killer Mike, Reagan
As a leader in the black community, he is keenly aware of the affects of racism and police brutality today, but rather than advocating for protests or riots as an expression of justifiable anger, he breaks down how black people can overcome systemic corruption and racism by using the one weapon that is most effective in a capitalist culture: money.
Furthermore, on the Bill Maher show on HBO, he goes into relationship between politicians and police, pointing out how politicians themselves use police as pawns.
Final Thoughts
The President of the United States of America is the figurehead of an authoritarian and corporatized organization that masquerades as benevolent, but POTUS is a puppet, not a leader. As Americans go at each other’s throats over about the election, it may serve us well to remember that individuals are the true leaders in our community and in our world.
“My criteria is probably Libertarian views, where you just let the free market reign, you let people do what they want to, and the government takes care of protecting us from foreign interests and one another.” ~Killer Mike

What is Transhumanism? -Max More
https://youtu.be/KgKe_PIU5ek
The merging of biology and technology will pave way for the Transhuman, also known as Neohuman.
As Nietzsche once theorized about the ‘Overman':
“I teach you the Overman! Mankind is something to be overcome. What have you done to overcome mankind?
All beings so far have created something beyond themselves. Do you want to be the ebb of that great tide, and revert back to the beast rather than overcome mankind? What is the ape to a man? A laughing-stock, a thing of shame. And just so shall a man be to the Overman: a laughing-stock, a thing of shame.”
The primitive notion of man and biology will be overcome; as Superman is to human. Transhumanism is not fueled by egoism or fear of death. It is the next frontier in human evolution, placing the improvement of the human condition, and its advancement in the universe, at the forefront of the future. Transhumanism is an evolved way of thinking, feeling, functioning, and being.
Transhumanism is the merging of biology and technology to better and more accurately express and actualize who we truly are without being restricted by the limited system (human body/biology) that has operated us. It is how the telegraph has evolved to a smartphone, while still remaining true to its essence (a vessel for sound waves/communication). Biology and chemistry have given us the blueprint, a foundation for technology to enhance ourselves and the way we live. Transhumanism is the full realization and fruition of ‘beings’ being ‘human’.
A consciousness evolution, stimulated through self-realization/reflection and the taming of ego (from a wild animal to a man's best friend), while emphasizing a rational and empathetic perspective (the elevation and balance of Logical and Emotional Intelligence – Masculinity and Femininity), is a significant aspect of being a Transhuman.
Advancements in technology, as the Singularity and Transhumanism propose, will also positively impact and benefit all life on our planet, including nature and animals.
Transhumanism is not fueled by the fear of dying, but by the love of living.

Just Like Falling in Love, We Can Form Friendships at First Sight

Ask any random collection of strangers what they look for in a friend, and odds are you’ll get pretty similar answers across the board: someone who’s fun to be around. Someone who shares your sense of humor. Someone you can trust.
But often, friendship begins long before any of those things can come to light in any meaningful way. According to one survey, around 60 percent of men and half of women believe in love at first sight; at least that many, I’d wager, have experienced that moment when you meet someone new and feel the friendship blooming in your gut — you just understand, instinctively, that a bond is about to form.
Call it a spark, call it chemistry, call it friendship at first sight; whatever it is, it can happen in just a small handful of seconds, which is the amount of time we need to form a first impression of someone (if that — one study suggests that we make our judgments just a tenth of a second after seeing a face). In a study published in Nature in 2009, researchers identified two areas of the brain that become especially active when we meet someone new: the amygdala, the area of the brain that deals with emotion, and the posterior cingulate cortex, which is linked to autobiographical memory. As Karla Starr noted in Psychology Today, the posterior cingulate cortex also helps us weigh decisions and assign value to objects; we go through a very similar process with humans. “And after we’ve assigned a value to a person, we make the decision about how to orient ourselves to that person,” she wrote. “Do we want to get closer? Knowing what this person’s value is to us, do we want this person to be involved in our network?”

It’s Okay to Think of the Gilmore Girls As Your Real Friends
The answer is actually a compilation of several smaller judgments, explains Kelly Campbell, a psychology professor at California State University, San Bernardino. “What are the things we care about in a friend? We care about someone who’s going to be fun, that we can enjoy ourselves with … You need emotional support, social support, you want then to be loyal and trustworthy, you don’t want to feel judged,” she says. “When you first see the person, you don’t realize how many judgments you’re making, but you’re actually gathering information that’s telling you if this person fills those needs for you.”
Last year, Campbell headed up a study in The Social Science Journal on “friendship chemistry,” which she and her colleagues defined as “an instant connection between friends that is easy and makes the relationship seem natural.” (Friendship chemistry, Campbell noted, is one subset of “interpersonal chemistry,” which includes romantic relationships.) The phenomenon wasn’t always mutual, they found, but it seemed to strike certain groups more than others: Those who scored higher on the personality traits of agreeableness, openness, and conscientiousness, for example, were more likely to say that they’d experienced friendship chemistry.
The same was true of female participants, which Campbell believes is a result of gender differences in how we’re socialized to relate to our emotions: From childhood, girls are more often taught to trust them, and boys to tune them out. And friendship chemistry is, at its core, an emotional reaction: “There are two ways we make decisions. There’s cognitive reasoning, where we’re thinking through things, gathering information, being rational, weighing the pros and cons. And there’s the emotional side, which includes things like intuition,” Campbell says. Personal chemistry relies more heavily on the latter: “You’re tapping into the fact that it feels good to be around this person.”

How Imaginary Friends Help Kids Grow Up
And because first impressions are hard to shake, once we feel that feeling, we tend to stick with it — which means that friendship at first sight may be less of a realization of an objective truth than we think.
“People generally think that they’re pretty good at forming first impressions and that their gut feeling is right somehow,” says Michael Sunnafrank, a communications professor at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, who studies relationships. But “I don’t think they’re accurate in predicting, ‘This is going to be a good relationship for me.’ They make it a good relationship.”
In a 2004 study in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Sunnafrank and his colleague Artemio Ramirez paired up college freshmen for getting-to-know-you conversations; the partners’ initial impressions of one another, the researchers found, were strong indicators of whether they were friendly a few months later. “First encounters, impressions formed during those encounters, and the relational decisions therein have a strong and lasting influence on relationships,” they wrote.
The key word there: decisions. That instinctual sizing-up, in other words, leads to something much more conscious: “What’s really happening here is a self-fulfilling prophecy,” Sunnafrank says. “If you expect [the relationship] not to develop, you’re going to make it not develop. If you expect that it’s going to be positive, you’re more likely to act positively and make it turn in that direction.”
“People form relationships based on their expectation of rewarding futures, and void relationships they think will be less rewarding,” he says. It’s kind of a cold, clinical way to assess something as warm ‘n’ fuzzy as friendship, but it’s true: Your emotional energy is a finite resource, and you’re more likely to invest it in someone who will give you something in return. And if you’re very lucky, that works both ways.

Your Energy Drink Is Killing You From the Inside
Danielle Tullo Danielle TulloNovember 4, 2016
From Cosmopolitan
You know when you're cramming for finals, get zero sleep, and basically subsist on Red Bull and Cheetos? Yeah, you shouldn't do that anymore. Well, maybe the Cheetos can stay, but the energy drink has to go because it's pretty much destroying your body.
It shouldn't come as a total surprise that energy drinks aren't good for you. They've been linked to deaths in the past and are known for having similar effects to cocaine. And now, in a new case study published by the British Medical Journal, more side effects of were discovered and it's terrifying because they can destroy your liver.
The case study involved a 50-year-old construction worker who was drinking four to five energy drinks a day over the course of three weeks. He ended up developing acute hepatitis and experienced nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Originally he thought it was the flu, but once his eyes and skin turned yellow, he went to the emergency room where they found he had a severe liver infection. As soon as he stopped binging on energy drinks, the symptoms went away.
Grub Street points out this is the second time taking energy drinks excessively has been tied to liver failure. In 2011, an otherwise healthy 22-year-old woman was diagnosed with acute hepatitis - she had admitted she was drinking 10 energy drink cans a day for two weeks.
In both cases, doctors say the high niacin (or vitamin B3) levels are what causes the liver damage, not so much the caffeine or other ingredients. According to the BMJ report, niacin is what causes liver damage.
At this point, not studying at all and just winging your final sounds like a better alternative than an energy drink, TBH.

The mind of Rody Duterte on leadership
"I AM NOT A MESSIAH,
I AM THE GARBAGE MAN'
By Manny Pinol
"I do not care if I burn in hell for as long as the people I serve live in paradise."
This is basically what Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte believes is the meaning and essence of leadership.
In an interview with a group of young students from the University of the Philippines Cebu who flew to Davao City over the weekend, Duterte was confronted with the question: "How do you define a leader and what kind of a leader are you?"
There was a short pause, after which Duterte delivered his treatise on leadership, a view which departs from the conventional perspective of a Filipino political leader who travels in a convoy of vehicles, who projects a morally upright image, who is concerned with what people may think about him and his views on certain issues, and to who the audience rises whenever he enters the room.
"A leader is not a messiah. He is the guy who does the work nobody else would like to do," said Duterte, who bows before his audience and who has publicly declared that he does not want people to rise whenever he enters the room or delivers a speech.
"I consider myself a garbage man. I take care of the dregs of society. I make sure that my city is safe and clean and my people are comfortable," he said.
This view on Philippine political leadership is a radical departure from the image of a Filipino traditional politician and this is the image of a leader which Filipinos are now slowly showing preference for, given the popularity of Duterte and the seeming acceptance by the people of his unconventional character.
Duterte cusses in public and even during his weekly television program, making the "bleep" part of the regular sound bites of his "Gikan sa masa, Para sa masa program" which airs on ABS-CBN Southern Mindanao every Sunday.
He openly talks about his love life, sometimes even his sex life, threatens criminals with serious consequences if they operate in his city and has been linked to several extra-judicial killings prompting a Time magazine writer to call him "The Punisher."
Duterte's character portrayal as a leader is the complete opposite of the image of a leader in mold of Moses who led his people to the Promised Land by leading the journey and who projects the image of a holy man.
He is not the typical Filipino politician who likes to project a "cutie" image and who sometimes even wears a light make-up to hide scars and acne in their faces.
He does not walk in front of his people carrying a flag and shouting the battlecry. Duterte walks among his people and literally makes a nightly round of his community like a shepherd would do to his herd of sheep to protect them from predators.
Duterte, before a near fatal motorcycle fall which injured his spine, rode his big bike at night, drove a taxicab to get a feel of the city first hand, led raids on a drug dens, personally shot and killed a prisoner who held hostage and raped a nun in the Davao City Jail years back, entered a rebel camp to negotiate for the release of soldiers and policemen captured by the New People's Army and even attended to such inane problems as a family break-up.
This is the kind of leader who allowed his own pick-up vehicle to be used by passengers stranded by flash floods in city and opted to take a taxicab to go home, a tough guy who has vowed to personally aid children who are suffering from cancer and who cried at the sight of the devastation and the stench of death in Tacloban City after Typhoon Yolanda.
In 2002, he hosted a boxing event which featured Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and he invited Muslim and communist rebels to watch the fight for free.
"Davao City is Zona Libre for everybody who comes in peace. But you are not allowed to carry firearms in the City unless you are a policeman or an army soldier. Even Nur Misuari at the height of his popularity and power acceded to this rule," Duterte said.
His conciliatory and accommodating gesture towards the "enemies of the state" has generated criticisms that Duterte supports the New People's Army and the Muslim rebels.
"There are enemies who should not be killed because otherwise we will have nobody to talk to about the prospects of peace," he once said following criticisms on his statement that Misuari, the MNLF leader who was accused of leading a deadly siege in Zamboanga City, must be consulted on the peace process in the Southern Philippines.
"You kill Misuari? Who do you talk to in the Western part of the Bangsamoro? The Abu Sayyaf?," Duterte asked in response to the criticisms.
Duterte seems unperturbed by what people outside of his city would think about him.
Following a newspaper report which said that American officials are bothered by incidences of extra-judicial killings involving drug lords in the City of Davao, Duterte retorted: "I am not the Mayor of New York. I am not answerable to the Americans. I am answerable to my people in Davao City."
But whether you like him or hate him, there is no argument that the Duterte brand of political leadership works in a city which used to be one of the most violent places in the whole country, where communist assassins turned the Agdao District into a killing fields earning the name "Nicaragdao," comparing it to Nicaragua during the bloody days of the Sandinistas.
Davao City has been ranked as the 4th Safest City in the World which stands out as the only city in the Philippines with a fully-operational 911 Emergency Response Unit.
It is so progressive that today negotiations are afoot for the construction of a light-rail transit system linking its barangays north and south, a project to be fully financed by the city government.
This is the Duterte paradigm on leadership which would merit serious study by political and social scientists.
Is this the image of a political leader that Filipinos are identifying themselves with?
The Duterte leadership phenomenon could yet mark a period in the country's political history when Filipinos, fed up with the corruption and criminality threatening society, go through a shift in their leadership preference, embracing an unconventional and controversial leader who has no record of corruption and who gets the job of protecting his people done.
This is leadership in the style of Rodrigo Roa Duterte, The Punisher, The Garbage Man and The Comforter, circa 2014.

Power of Play: Education beyond the Classrooms
Play is an important part of the learning experience. In most areas, children go to work before and after school with little time for play. "The fucking Chinese is really fucking us."
This is what the Chinese have done to us:
1. They invaded the West Phil sea, they build an airstrip and a deep seaport.
2. To add "salt to an open wound", they paid a Corrupt Politician and have stolen our rocks, fill materials and garden soil.
3. Then they moved their jet planes and navy ships to control the sea.
4. They controlled the free passage of ships delivering goods at the West Philippine Sea.
5. Slowly over years, they already invaded our economy.
6. The have infected 3,000,000 Filipinos, in preparation for their final take-over
7. There are Chinese Sleeper Agents in our midst just waiting for the signal.
8.,There are Chinese NGOs operating as an innocent looking International NGOninbtge Philippines.
9. Pres Duterte said that they have sophisticated Satellites guided systems to monitor the location of our Phil Navy watching our shores.
10. Now, reports said that Cambodia sides with China during An ASEAN Meeting in not bringing to the Bilateral talks With China the UN Arbitration Decision, and our Philippine Repsentative agreed with it, why?

MAGELLAN'S LANDING SITE RAPED...........
Homonhon Island, a part of our history as a country - the Philippines, is currently RAPED and DESECRATED.
Homonhon Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar was the first island where Ferdinand Magellan landed when he arrived in our archipelago.
There is a mining company present in Homonhon which is extracting chromite. Three thousand (3,000 has) hectares of forest were burned in order to start mining the chromite.
suspectedly, the soil extracted from the island is brought to the Scarborough Shoals for the Chinese man-made islands.
As is usually the case with mining companies, the only benefit that the people of the place can get is that they get employed in mining the fields, but in terms of profit from the mine itself there is very little if there is at all. When the mining is over they are then left with barren and unproductive land coupled with the pollution from the tailings of the mines which goes into the sea.
the once beautiful sandy white beaches of Homonhon Island, site of Ferdinand Magellan's first landing, is now a DISASTER. people are threatened by this heartless and greedy mining company in collaboration with local politicians.
people are starving, people are dying.
PLEASE HELP SAVE HOMONHON ISLAND.

A 10-year-old gets the birthday of a lifetime after no one says they're coming.

This is a part of a special Upworthy series about giving people the power to share and create an open and connected world, made possible by Facebook. Read more.
It's a rare occurrence when a professional football player shows up to your 10th birthday party. Especially when he wasn't originally invited.
But then again, Mackenzie Moretter's 10th birthday didn't turn out to be your average party.

Mackenzie lives in Shakopee, Minnesota, and had planned on celebrating her big day with kids her age in her backyard.
When every single guest declined Mackenzie's invitation, it looked like her birthday party was going to fall through.
Heartbreak and panic began to set in. Mackenzie's mom, Jenny Moretter, knew she needed to figure out a backup plan fast.
Mackenzie was born with a rare genetic disorder called Sotos syndrome that's made it difficult for her to make friends. The disorder has caused developmental delays and excessive physical growth during her childhood.
"She’s bubbly and she’s caring when you get to know her," Jenny told Upworthy. With Mackenzie's party only a day away — and no one coming — she knew she had to do something.
Jenny got online and, quite hesitantly, started posting her family's predicament in some local groups on Facebook.
Her goal was to hopefully get a couple of moms to bring their kids over to say "happy birthday" to Mackenzie. Nothing big.
But that's not what happened.
This magical button delivers Upworthy stories to you on Facebook:
The posts she put up on Facebook received a ton of responses and spread to other groups — and then nationally. News stations began to call their house. Community members started asking to help plan the party. Local businesses committed to catering and decorating. A GoFundMe campaign was set up to cover all of the costs. A Facebook invite launched. The party went from being held in their small backyard to a local park. All within 11 hours.

The next day, when Mackenzie and her family showed up at the park, they couldn't believe what they saw.
Elsa from Frozen was there.

A DJ was there. Local firefighters showed up. A photographer, too. The place was flowing with pizza and cupcakes. A dream!
More than 350 complete strangers came out to celebrate Mackenzie's big day.
SHARE
The mayor of their town Shakopee even declared it "Mackenzie Moretter Day." How many 10-year-olds get a day named after them?!
"I have a hard time making friends in school, but thanks to all of you … my voice was heard," Mackenzie told the crowd, according to KARE 11. "I love you all."
It's a day that will be remembered forever.

A former porn star has lifted the lid on what it was really like to go from from a college student to adult entertainer as she reveals that the only X-rated films she likes to watch with her partners are the ones she's starred in.
The retired adult entertainer from Massachusetts, who goes by the pseudonym S.K., joined Cosmopolitan.com editors Elisa Benson and Ali Drucker for a candid discussion about women and porn on the latest episode of the Cosmo Happy Hour podcast, in which she dished about everything watching her adult films with her partners and the camaraderie on set.
'It wasn't like I was desperate for money, so there was no need for me to do anything I didn't feel like doing,' S.K. explains of her time in the industry. 'I was really there to have a good time. [Porn] was more of a passion project for me, so I really only did as much of it as I thought would be fun.'

S.K. says she has 'always had a little sex vixen waiting to be unleashed', but before she got into porn, she was working as a webcam girl inside the the dorm room of her New England liberal arts college.
'You could truly choose your own adventure, and I had a lot of props and costumes,' she says of her time as a webcamming.
S.K. eventually developed a regular fan base and started looking into another avenues of doing porn in on the East Coast before she headed to Los Angeles, where she started doing improv comedy.
When one of the women from her improvisation class revealed that a producer asked her to take her shirt off and she refused, S.K. says she was reminded of her interest in getting into the adult film industry.
After Googling the top porn agencies in Los Angeles, S.K. took a series of nude photos of herself and sent them off.
S.K. says she was soon contacted by former porn star Shy Love, who founded Adult Talent Managers.
I even found a literal niche for myself in Amish porn
During their first meeting, she says Shy Love told her to get naked and noted that she has 'five different shades of skin tone'.
'My tan was quite uneven at the time. I was like, "I'm sorry I'm from Boston,"' she recalls.
'You need to get a tan. I want you three shades darker,' Shy Love told her before giving her the name of a tanning place and hair stylist to start her adult film makeover.
S.K. explains that the of the first things Shy Love told her was that she is 'very raw'.
'That was actually part of my appeal,' she says looking back. 'I think that I was all natural — I even found a literal niche for myself in Amish porn. They really liked the whole natural look.'
S.K. says she was so excited about the opportunity that she was almost open to anything, however, she admits that when Shy Love asked her why she wanted to get involved in the industry, she didn't have a really good reason.
She and Shy Love went through the porn scenarios she would be willing to do, and the owner of the agency helped mentor S.K., explaining that she should start off in 'masturbation' and 'girl on girl' and stay there as long as she could.
'It is all about novelty so that's why they get so excited when new girls show up, but you really want to maximize your potential,' she explains. 'So you sort of make your rounds in each genre, but its like if you do anal first it is like, "Oh, she has already done that."'

S.K. says she had no problem getting naked during her go-sees with production companies because it was something she genuinely wanted to do.
'[If] you are signing up to do porn, you have to expect that you are getting naked and people are going to be looking at you in a sexual way,' she explains. 'I think as long as you know what you are signing up for... but I don't know if everyone sort of has the luxury I had, where it's not like my rent was due.'
'I got a labiaplasty so I wanted to show that off,' she adds.
When it comes to shooting, S.K. says you know you are going to be getting 'extremely intimate' with your co-stars, so 'you just really start hitting it off right away'.
S.K. says the guy starts 'courting you immediately' and is 'treating you like this goddess', however, she admits that she has exchanged numbers with some of the men, and she has regretted it.
'It was always like a fun atmosphere,' she recalls. 'I always felt euphoric after these shoots, and the other girls too I thought were lovely. Like most people just really loved having sex, so they were usually happy to be there I think. They seemed like it.'
Maybe it is a little sick and twisted, but I've had guys who want to watch my work
S.K. says one of her favorite parts of shooting was actually the interview section before the sex starts, however, she realized male fans had no idea what she was talking about.
'Most guys I would talk to would be like, "Wait what? I skipped over the at least first 10 minutes." So they are just waiting for that money shot I think.
And similarly to the sex scenes featured in Hollywood blockbusters, S.K. says camera men knew what angles to look for and would position her in certain ways.
However, when asked what the most popular angles were, S.K. says 'p***y'.
'That is really what it is focusing on [in hardcore porn],' she says, 'But the softcore can't show the actual penetration, so you have to somehow hide it.'
Eventually, S.K. told her parents about her career in the adult film industry, and she explains that their level-headed reactions made her gain even more respect for her mother and father, who really focused on understanding her decision and making sure she was being safe.
'I think one particular woman really may have gotten a lot of pleasure from being the one to bear the news to my mother, and I would have hated that,' S.K. says of her mom finding out.
However, when the woman in question called her mom and asked if she knew that her daughter was doing porn, her mother had an incredible reaction.
'I don't think she really knew the full extent of what I was doing at the time, [but] she was like, "Why yes, yes I did. Goodbye now."'
After working in the industry from the ages of 23 to 25, S.K. says she decided to not renew her contract because it started to feel like work and she knew it wasn't her 'true life calling', it was just something she wanted to try.
'Personally, I don't watch very much porn,' she admits. 'Before trying it myself, I hadn't really watched much either.'
However, S.K. says she does like to watch her own work from time to time.
'Maybe it is a little sick and twisted, but I've had guys who want to watch my work while also being with me in the flesh,' she admits. 'And that's always been kind of fun for me.'
S.K. also says that when she finally tells her suitors about her past they think it is really cool.
'They're like, "Whoa, I've never met a porn star before." It can make their life.'

Anyone under 25 shouldn't be allowed to 'star' in porn films. Watching that clip by Bree Olson, is kind of sad, she clearly sold her soul to the devil and made a lot of money in the process. She then grew up and got a reality check when wanting to lead a normal life - hence my point about having an age limit.

The Bree Olson video: she describes being treated as if she had hurt children. I'm not endorsing how others have treated her but she's in full denial thinking that porn does not harm children. The damage we as a society are doing to children thru access to porn will be manifest in decades of tears and heartache in dysfunctional families. Lord have mercy on us.

This does make me laugh. These 'stars' have their faces - and everything else besides - plastered all over the internet and elsewhere for years on end, but when they 'retire' they get all coy and use a pseudonym or initials to hide behind in the hope that no one ever recognises them. I wonder if it works !

A new scientific review has identified 25 of the top foods and herbs which kill cancer stem cells at the root cause of cancer malignancy.
There are thousands of natural compounds that have been studied with demonstrable anti-cancer activity (check out over 600 on GreenMedInfo’s cancer research database), but only a small subset of these have been proven to target and kill the cancer stem cells which lie at the root of cancer malignancy. Turmeric, for instance, we have featured a number of times for its “smart kill” property of targeting just the heart of cancerous tumors. More recently, ginger has been found in pre-clinical research to contain a compound up to 10,000 times more effective than the chemotherapy drug Taxol at killing breast cancer stem cells. Even common foods like blueberry have special cancer killing properties, as discussed in a previous article for GreenMedInfo: Research: Radiotherapy Causes Cancer, Blueberry Kills It.
A new study published in the journal Anticancer Research, titled “Natural Products That Target Cancer Stem Cells“, has made our job much easier of identifying this special category of cancer killers by reviewing the extant literature on the topic and listing the top 25 substances in this category. They are listed here below, along with some of their commonly recognizable dietary sources.
25 Cancer Stem Cell Killing Foods
Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) – Green Tea
6-Gingerol – Ginger
?-Carotene – Carrot, Leafy Greens
Baicalein – Chinese Skullcap
Curcumin – Turmeric
Cyclopamine – Corn Lilly [we do not suggest consuming this plant; this simply illustrates natural components exist that kill cancer stem cells]
Delphinidin – Blueberry, raspberrry
Flavonoids (Genistein) – Soy, red clover, coffee
Gossypol – Cottonseed [we do not suggest consuming this plant; this simply illustrates natural components exist that kill cancer stem cells]
Guggulsterone – Commiphora (myrrh tree)
Isothiocyanates – Cruciferous vegetables
Linalool – Mint
Lycopene – Grapefruit, tomato
Parthenolide – Feverfew
Perylill alcohol – Mint, cherry, lavender
Piperine – Black pepper
Placycodon saponin – Playycodon grandifloruim
Psoralidin – Psoralea corylilyfolia
Quercetin – Capers, onion
Resveratrol – Grapes, plums, berries
Salinomycin – Streptomyces albus
Silibinin – Milk Thistle
Ursolic acid – Thyme, basil, oregano
Vitamin D3 – Fish, egg yolk, beef, cod liver oil
Withaferin A – Withania somnifera (ashwaganda)
Why are these substances so important?
The primary reason why conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy have failed to produce any significant improvements in cancer survival rates is because cancer stem cells are resistant to these interventions. In fact, chemotherapy and especially radiation are both capable of increasing the number and virulence of these cells in a tumor, while at the same time having the well known side effect of further damaging the patient’s immune system.
While the cancer industry is still very much resistant to incorporating the implications of these findings into their standard of care (which is highly unethical), there are an increasing number of health practitioners that will not turn their back on the truth and are very much interested in alternative ways to prevent and treat cancer using food and/or plant-based approaches.
The new study addresses the relevance of cancer stem cells as follows:
The cancer stem cell model suggests that tumor initiation is governed by a small subset of distinct cells with stem-like character termed cancer stem cells (CSCs). CSCs possess properties of self-renewal and intrinsic survival mechanisms that contribute to resistance of tumors to most chemotherapeutic drugs. The failure to eradicate CSCs during the course of therapy is postulated to be the driving force for tumor recurrence and metastasis. Recent studies have focused on understanding the unique phenotypic properties of CSCs from various tumor types, as well as the signaling pathways that underlie self-renewal and drug resistance.”
At present, the cancer industry has failed to produce a single drug that targets the cancer stem cell population of cells within a tumor, as confirmed by the study:
If indeed the CSC response is a vital criterion for cancer treatment evaluation, there are still no drugs in clinical use that specifically target CSCs.
The ability to selectively target cancer cells, and cancer stem cells in particular, while leaving intact the non-tumor cells in tissue is extremely important. We have created a section on the GreenMedInfo database that indexes research on these substances and now includes 67 of them here. We are also building a section that collates research cancer stem cells, a topic will no doubt become a central part of the future of cancer treatment, assuming the priority is to actually alleviate suffering and not just make money off of patients.
